The University of Southampton Centre for Autonomous Vehicle Systems brings together research across a wide variety of disciplines across the spectrum from pure science to real-world engineering systems, and applications ranging from sub-sea to high-altitude platforms. The University of Southampton has a unique position with the ability to leverage its existing world-class teaching, facilities and research expertise, and bring together cross disciplinary research and education. This is a significant opportunity for the UK to take a global lead in the direction of this important emerging field, with a programme delivering the future leaders to UK industry.
The Centre will leverage the unique facilities at Southampton including the UAV “skunkworks”, the Autonomous Systems Lab, National Oceanography Centre, RJ Mitchell wind tunnel, Nanofabrication Centre and recent £10 Million investment in the National Environmental Research Centre at Southampton.
We are building on the investment of more than £100 Million in the last decade into the underpinning Technology used in the centre. Centre partners will have access to more than 250 world class Engineering academics and research staff.
